Perry NPP to install a new transformer

 USA, Ohio: FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company announced its Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio, shut down early on Sunday, March 5, for scheduled refuelling, maintenance and a transformer replacement that is expected to enhance reliability.

During the outage, Perry will install a new, large power transformer, which is one of two circuits that provide power from the off-site transmission network to the plant's on-site electrical systems, the company said in a statement.

The new transformer is expected to enhance reliability and ensure a critical power source is available for plant operation.

The 1,268 MW Perry unit operated safely and reliably since the completion of its last refuelling on April 24, 2015, generating more than 19.7 million megawatt hours of carbon-free electricity.
