195-ton transformer moved to Florida

2017-3-22

USA, Florida: A 195-ton transformer has been successfully transported to an electrical substation in central Florida.

The transformer owned by Florida Power & Light was transported 24 km from an electrical substation in southern Florida, encountering bridge clearance restrictions and weight limitations, reports Heavy Lift PFI.

The total combined weight of the equipment was 326.5 tons.

The transformer was moved on two different transporters. The first, a low-boy 12-axle 96 wheel vehicle, was used to pass under two bridges. The equipment was then jacked up and moved onto a 24-axle 192 wheel Goldhofer transporter, which spread the weight of the load over the road surface to avoid damaging the roadway.

Both transporters were pulled by a truck and received an additional push from behind by another 50-ton truck.
