Zimbabwe in need of 3,000 transformers

2016-6-16

Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) needs around 3,000 transformers in order to provide power to thousands of homes throughout the country.

Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), subsidiary of ZESA, started buying transformers from its sister company Zesa Enterprise (ZENT) as the supplier who won the tender of 2010 has been struggling to supply the transformers to ZETDC in the past six years, reports The Herald.

However, according to ZETDC managing director Julian Chinembiri, ZENT has not been able to satisfy the required supply rate, and ZETDC will have to continue with tenders.

He also revealed the power utility company is constrained with lack of resources to purchase the transformers.
