USDA to grant 3.6B loans for 82 rural electric projects in 31 states

 USA: The U.S. department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing $3.6 billion in loans to fund 82 electric projects across 31 states.

The $3.6 billion loans will finance electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure upgrades, and energy projects relating to smart grid technologies,renewable energy, environmental improvements, and energy efficiency, reports Farm Futures.

The loans are being provided through the Electric Program of the Rural Utilities Service, and should improve system operations for rural electric customers nationwide.
