2018-4-9

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged it will be investing $711.5 million in solar energy projects in Nigeria and the related electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure.

The bank will support the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) with a total of $410 million for a critical transmission project, reports ESI-Africa.

AfDB plans to provide further $300 million to support the federal government’s power sector recovery programme, which includes investments in power distribution companies to enable them to unlock 2,000 MW of stranded power.

Finally, a grant of $1.5 million is soon to be approved to support the Jigawa solar project.
