Mokokchung demands new transformer and new substation
2016-9-5
India, Nagaland: The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has expressed concerns about the power crisis in Mokokchung in their charter of demands sent to the Power Department on 24 August 2016, in which they request the upgrade of the existing substation and the addition of a new one.
A breakdown of the 5 MVA transformer around 15 July was only a “culmination of public displeasure over the irregular power supply in the town over the past years,” reports Morung Express.
While the MTLT has acknowledged the Power Department for restoring the failed transformer in Mokokchung, in their charter of demands they remind of the need to replace the damaged 5 MVA transformer with a higher capacity transformer and keep a spare transformer at the power station to be used during emergencies.
The MTLT also asked for assurance that a new 10 MVA substation will be established at Majakong Ward and the existing substation at Salangtem will beupgraded with additional 10 MVA.
