Ghana, Tema: The Tema Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the company will build new substations by the end of 2017 to improve power supply across the region.

A primary substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, is to be constructed at Tsopoli, under the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) programe, while the Baatsona enclave should have a new bulk supply point by the end of the year, reports Ghana News Agency.

Another 35 MVA substation is to be constructed to supply power for the TEMA Port Expansion project.

Currently, the company is conducting civil works on mounting an additional transformer on the harbour road to take some of the load off the transformer located in the Meridian area.
