Indonesia launches huge power plant projects
2015-5-31 The Jakarta Post
Indonesia, Jakarta: Indonesian President has presented an energy programme to build power plants in 240 places across Indonesia to meet the demand of 35,000 MW of electricity in the next five years.
The five-year programme is expected to propel the industrial sector and support the transformer, cable and transmission network industries, as 60 percent of the program’s components are expected to be locally made, reports The Jakarta Post.
At the same time, the projects will be a big absorber of machinery imports, including power transformers.
To meet the demand of producing 35,000 MW in the next five years, 10,000 MW will be produced by PLN, a government-owned electricity distributor, and the remaining 25,000 MW by the private sector.
