ECG commissions new substation and plans $40M upgrade projects

 Ghana: A new 40 MVA substation at Hohoe in the Volta Region in Ghana has been commissioned by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The substation is equipped with two 20 MVA power transformers, increasing the previous capacity at the station by 300%, reports ESI-Africa.

According to ECG managing director Samuel Boakye-Appiah, ECG has earmarked $40 million for strategic projects which include the construction of transformer stations and switching stations, 33/11 kV network lines, network extensions and strengthening, as well as 33/11 kV network upgrade and expansion to various communities.
