Dow Electrical & Telecommunications underpins critical role of quality materials in ensuring reliabi

2012-10-15 Cable News

At the 3rd ETP Conference on “Underground Cables in Transmission Grids, Dow Electrical & Telecommunications (Dow E&T) will highlight the industry leading quality control measures it implements to deliver underground cable materials capable of operating at the highest voltages.” The conference takes place on 18-19 October, 2012 at the Hotel Palace Berlin, Germany.

Simon Sutton, European End Use Marketing Manager, Dow E&T, will explain why utilities should protect their investment and keep life cycle costs to a minimum by insisting that cables be constructed with quality materials that ensure reliability and longevity. He will present the production processes for low density polyethylene (LDPE) and base resin for crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE), and will also explain the fundamental differences between AC and DC insulation materials, a particularly relevant topic at the moment.

On 17 October, Dow E&T will host a visit for conference delegates to its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Schkopau. During the visit, delegates will have an opportunity to hear more about the production of XLPE and semicon compounds, materials handling systems and the industry-leading quality control systems deployed by Dow E&T; these combine to ensure clean reliable compounds essential for cable manufacture at the highest voltages.
