2017-12-11

Kenya: Nearly 650,000 rural households will be connected to electricity after Kenya Power awarded contracts for the construction of new power lines and transformers in villages at a cost of nearly $290 million.

Kenya Power has launched the second phase of the government’s Last Mile Connectivity Project, which will use 1,000 transformers and 10,000 kilometres of cables, reports Daily Nation.

The project, jointly funded by loans from the World Bank and African Development Bank, will take 18 months to complete.
