Colombian Edemsa wins $140M power project in Mexico

 Mexico, Mexico City: The Colombian Medellin Electricity company (Edemsa) is part of the consortium which has been awarded a $140 million power contract by the Federal Electricity Commission of Mexico (CFE) to implement a project which will reduce electricity distribution losses in the State of Mexico.

As part of the project, 8,454 distribution transformers as well as 428 kilometres of distribution lines will be installed in the State of Mexico and the Federal District, reports Dinero.

Energy losses which are currently close to 30% in the Valley of Mexico will drop to nearly 5% after the project goes online in the spring of 2016.

Other companies of the winning consortium include Siemens, Siemens Innovations and Edemtec.
