Call for bids for $1.4 substation transformer

2016-7-20

USA, Minnesota: Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has authorized a call for bids for an addition of a power transformer and associated improvement works to the South Side Substation in New Ulm, Minnesota.

The estimated cost of the additional transformer is $1.4 million, reports The Journal.

The substation's existing transformer has a top rating of 20 MVA and will soon be unable to withstand the load due to expansion of local industry.

The addition of a second transformer is expected to reduce the load on the existing transformer to allowable levels during peak loading events.
