2017-5-5

Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) is set to procure 20,900 distribution transformers at over $25 million in order to ensure smooth supply of electricity across the country.

The effort is part of a project to replace 70,000 overloaded transformers, according to the decision of the BREB board made in late December 2016, reports The Financial Times.

The proposal for replacement of the overloaded distribution transformers is now with the cabinet committee on public purchase waiting for approval.

The total cost of the project exceeds $87.2 million and it will be jointly financed by BREB and the government

The project is expected to be implemented by December this year.
