USD 1.06B Wataynikaneyap Power project boosted with government funding

 Canada, Ontario: Canadian Federal Government has announced funding of up to CAD 60 million (USD 47.5 million) to connect Pikangikum First Nation, a remote community in Ontario, to the state’s power grid.

The Pikangikum Power Line Project is the electrification project that is part of the larger 1800 km Wataynikaneyap Transmission Project, estimated to have a cost of USD 1.06 billion, reports EBR.

The Pikangikum First Nation is located on the Pikangikum 14 Reserve, in Unorganized Kenora District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada.
