Kenya Power to install 20 new transformers in two months

 Kenya: Kenya's state-owned power utility, Kenya Power, will install 20 new transformers in the North Coast by the end of June in an effort to stabilise electricity supply in the area and address frequent outages.

In addition to installing new transformers, the project will also involve upgrading the existing transformers and distribution lines, as well as the installation of new low and medium voltage lines to ease pressure on the network in the North Coast, reports ESI Africa.

“To address the supply challenges currently being faced by our customers, we intend to set aside $129 million in the next financial year to maintain the existing infrastructure across the country, up from $109 million that was budgeted for this financial year,” said Kenya Power’s managing director and CEO, Ben Chumo.
