U.S. helps Chile develop energy efficient distribution transformers

2015-2-12 PR Newswire

USA, Washington DC: The U.S. State Department and the Clean Energy Ministerial's SEAD Initiative are collaborating with Chile's Ministry of Energy (MoE) to design energy efficiency policies which will expand its appliance energy efficiency programme first launched in Chile in 2005.

As part of the initiative, the Chilean MoE will be assisted in achieving additional energy savings through development of efficient distribution transformers, reports PR Newswire.

The State Department project aims to achieve up to 9.3 billion kilowatt hours of cumulative electricity savings and related GHG emissions reductions between 2016 and 2030 through energy efficiency policies and the introduction of more efficient distribution transformer technologies.

Energy efficiency measures could reduce the Chilean national electricity consumption 20% by 2025.
