Toshiba sets up new UHV transformer production line in India

 India: With an investment of $26.5 million in 2016, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems India (TTDI) is planning to offer new T&D products to the power sector, boosting the local production as well as export. 

The funds have been used to increase the transformer production capacity by 50% by setting up a new manufacturing line for ultra-high voltage transformers up to 1200 kV and improving manufacturing and operational efficiency of distribution transformers, reports Economic Times.

New lines have also been established for the production of gas insulated switchgears (GIS) and solid insulated switchgears (SIS).

This expansion will allow TTDI to meet the growing demand in India and countries across the world.
