2015-5-10

Tanzania, Dar es Salaam: Tanzania Electric Supply Company Tanesco revealed that the power substations under construction in Dar es Salaam have been completed by 84 per cent and they will be connected to the national grid by the end of June.

According to the company, new power transformers have been installed to replace the old units, which will increase power efficiency and add at least 150 MW to the national grid to strengthen supply services to power consumers, reports Daily News.

One of the new substations is located at new Ilala city centre with the capacity to generate 100 MW, funded by the Finnish government and scheduled for official inauguration in September.

Other substations are situated at Gongo la Mboto, Kipawa, Mbagala, Kiwalani, Kinyerezi and Mikocheni.
