Siemens tests transformer using MIDEL synthetic ester

 Russia, Voronezh: At its Voronezh plant in Russia, Siemens Transformers has successfully tested its first manufactured transformer using the liquid dielectric MIDEL 7131.

The transformer has been manufactured under an agreement signed in August 2014 with a contractor involved in the construction of a power plant at the site of South Tambey gas field, reports i-Mash.

For the project, Siemens will manufacture 26 different types of power transformers with a capacity of up to 125 MVA and voltage class of up to 115 kV.

The transformers will use insulating fluid MIDEL 7131 instead of the traditional oil, which will provide a higher fire and environmental safety.
