Nepal to receive $150M loan for T&D upgrades

 Nepal, Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank for a $150 million loan to implement electricity transmission and distribution efficiency enhancement projects.

The funds will be used to support expansion of transmission lines in different parts of the country, upgrading of substations in Barhabise, Laphsiphedi, Khimti, and Chapagaun areas, and for rehabilitation and capacity enhancement of the distribution grid in the Kathmandu Valley.

The entire project is scheduled to take 4.5 years to complete.
