Logan to power up with new custom-built transformers

2017-10-23

USA, Utah: Logan Light and Power is moving a $3 million substation upgrade project in the city of Logan ahead one year to help ensure reliability to the city’s power grid.

The utility originally planned upgrades at two substations for next year, but with the heat of this summer, the age of the existing transformers and the time it takes to custom-build large transformers, they decided to start on the upgrade now, HJnews reports.

Light and Power director Mark Montgomery said they will soon place the bid, make a purchase and have the transformers built and installed over the next year.

As the city continues to grow, more upgrades and improvements can be expected to make the system more reliable.
