India’s highest-rating special transformer designed and tested

 India: BHEL Bhopal has designed and manufactured the highest-rating special type split winding 120 MVA 400/11.5-11.5 kV station transformer, reports The Pioneer.

The transformer has been successfully short-circuit tested at the National High Power Test Laboratory (NHPTL) Bina.

According to The Pioneer, this transformer is India’s highest-rating 400 kV station transformer that has been short-circuit tested live, directly from the transmission grid.

The transformer was manufactured for the 2x800 MW NTPC's Lara Super Thermal Power Project.
