France to provide €100M for 14 new substations in Bangladesh

Bangladesh, Dhaka: The French Development Finance Institution, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), has approved funding of 100 million Euros ($110 million) for establishing better electricity distribution network in Dhaka, according to the agency press release, reports News Next.
Under the Power System Expansion and Efficiency Improvement Investment Program (PSEEIIP), AFD will fund the construction of 14 new transformer stations – seven 132/33 kV substations and seven 33/11 kV substations, which will include power transformers, associated electrical equipment and accessories, as well as electric lines.
Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) will be responsible for implementing this part of the project, whose implementation is expected to improve the living conditions of 1.25 households.
PSEEIIP is jointly funded by AFD, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
