First integrated Smart Grid Operation System launched in Turkey

 Turkey, Istanbul: The distribution network operator of Thrace Region, TREDAS, in collaboration with GE, established Turkish first integrated Smart Grid Operation Centre in order to minimize power outages by strengthening technological infrastructure and centralizing operation management.

The Operation Centre is an all-in-one integrated system including also a Remote Control and Monitoring System (SCADA) for remote monitoring ofdistribution transformers, which will provide monitoring of 732 centres, according to GE Grid Solutions’ the press release.

By remote monitoring of distribution transformers an outage is detected instantly and the workforce management system automatically creates a work order within a maximum of 5 minutes.

The monitoring system creates instant alerts once any outage occurs, except for minor outages affecting small numbers of consumers, and quick response is achieved.
