Egypt, Cairo: Egyptian Electricity Ministry has signed a deal for the construction of a new transformer station worth nearly $28 million in the Suez Canal region.

The project, which will include installation of power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will be funded by partners headed by the European Investment Bank, revealed the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, according to All Africa.

The new project aims to meet the expected increase in electricity consumption next summer, as the country has been facing an energy crisis for years with power outages surging in the summer.
