CU to replace three aged transformers in East Cleveland
2017-11-5
USA, Cleveland: After a recent failure of one of the three power transformers at the East Cleveland Substation, Cleveland Utilities discovered that all three transformers should be replaced.
Following the evaluation and consultation, it was determined that the aged transformer could not be repaired, and a new one would have to be purchased, reports Cleveland Daily Banner.
Upon further review, it was decided that all three transformers at the East Cleveland facility, purchased in 1956 and used continually for 61 years, should be replaced.
Three single-phase power transformers will be manufactured by Virginia Transformer Corp. at the cost of $2.3 million.
