USA, Minnesota: Great River Energy has proposed construction of a new electrical substation in Big Sandy, Minnesota, in order to avoid future low voltage issues and maintain reliable electric service in the Big Sandy Lake area.
The new substation with a power transformer and other electrical equipment, as well as a new 5-kilometre 69 kV transmission line, would be built by Lake Country Power next to the existing Round Lake substation between the autumn of 2016 and the autumn of 2017, reports Message Media.
The Round Lake transformer is expected to exceed its base capacity rating this year, which calls for adding additional capacity, either by installing a larger power transformer or building a second source of power.
