Ameren spending $6M to upgrade Bloomington substation

 USA, Illinois: Ameren Illinois plans to invest $6 million in the upgrade of the Powerhouse substation at West Mill Street and South Roosevelt Avenue in Bloomington with new transformers and smart technology.

The upgrade project will include installation of two larger power transformers which will be added inside the substation, reports Pantagraph.

The upgrade will enable Ameren to decommission an older substation at that location.

Ameren will start installing the new transformers this summer, with completion expected in 2017.
