ABB wins $15M transformer and GIS contract in India

Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won an order worth around $15 million from Techno Electric and Engineering Company Ltd. (Techno) to deliver gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and transformers for a 400/220 kV substation at Patran in Punjab.
As part of the order, ABB will deliver two 400 kV autotransformers, which are normally deployed in power applications to interconnect systems operating at different voltage levels, states the company in the press release.
The company will also design, engineer and supply 400 kV and 220 kV GIS modules.
The substation is part of an inter-state network that will have a capacity of 1,200 MW.
The project is due for completion in 2016.
