General:

Gas Insulated Switchgear, abbreviated as GIS, is combined by circuit breaker, disconnector, earthing switches, lighting arrestor, PT(potential transformer),CT(current transformer), bushing and busbar which are completely insulated with SF6 gas in one metal enclosure. It is designed to meet the requirement of versatile, quickly-implementable, compact and climate-proof solutions in developing electric industry.

Features:

Ø Large breaking capability

Ø Self-energized arc control device is applied for circuit breaker. The device is so designed that the energy of arc generated is used to improve its arc quenching capability, which leads to a higher breaking capability and a lower operating force needed.

Ø Spring & motor operating mechanism

Ø The circuit breaker and high speed disconnector and earthing switch are equipped with motor drive, spring charged mechanism while maintenance disconnector and earthing switch are equipped with motor greatly improve GIS’s operation reliability.

Ø Compact construction

Ø All electric components including circuit breaker, disconnector, earthing switch, CT, PT and lightning arrestor are insulated by SF6 in enclosure to ensure compact construction hence protection and control functions are integrated.

Ø Easy erection & free maintenance

Ø The complete bay of GIS will be delivered without dismantlement. Only connection between different bays of GIS is only to be needed to realize easy site erection. Double sealing gaskets and rings etc are adopted to realize maximum 0.5 gas leakage per year.

GIS has the advantages of excellent electric & mechanical performance and compact construction. It is widely used in the power grid ranging from 72.5kV up to 500kV.
