$63M substation to be built to support oil and gas industry

USA, West Virginia: FirstEnergy is building a new $63 million substation to help support the oil and gas industry, but also to improve service for customers in three counties in West Virginia.
This 138 kV substation with power transformers and associated electrical equipment will be built in Smithfield, and it will enhance service reliability for more than 6,000 Mon Power customers in Wetzel, Marion and Tyler counties, reports Eagle Ford Texas.
Due to the lack of infrastructure, the new facility will support the oil and gas industry, specifically the Marcellus shale, but it will also benefits other customers.
The project is expected to be complete about this time next year.
