2016-11-17

USA, Pennsylvania: Construction has begun on a new FirstEnergy Corp. transmission substation near Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, to help meet the increased electrical usage of the area's expanding Marcellus Shale gas industry.

The $40 million substation project includes installation of the electrical equipment, including two large transformers manufactured in Wisconsin, as well as the capacitor banks, circuit breakers, communications equipment and a modular control building, the utility company said in a press release.

The project is slated for completion in mid-2017.
