$150M substation and transformer projects under way in Chennai

India, Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Co. Ltd. (TANGEDCO) is strengthening the distribution network in Chennai by setting up new substations and installing new transformers in existing substations.
According to the TANGEDCO officials, substation projects worth more than $150 million are under way in various parts of the city, reports The New Indian Express.
New 230 kV substations with power transformers and associated electrical equipment are being constructed at four locations in the city, along with six new 110 kV substations and five news 33 kV substations.
To meet the additional demand in and around the city, additional transformers are being installed in the existing substations in some of the city’s key locations, including Kilpauk, Mambalam and Koyambedu.
