2017-11-8

Nigeria: Two new power transformers have been commissioned in the Nigerian states of Kaduna and Katsina.

A new 40 MVA mobile transformer was commissioned in Zaria, Kaduna State, while a 60 MVA transformer was installed in Funtua, Katsina state, replacing the faulty unit and increasing power to local governments by 200%, reports ESI-Africa.

According to the minister of state for power, Mustapha Shehuri, the government is in the process of replacing faulty transformers nationwide and installing new ones in order to ensure steady power supply.

The projects are part of the effort to overcome load challenges in TCN’s transmission substations nationwide.

TCN managing director, Usman Mohammed, announced that TCN would establish three additional substations in Kaduna at Keke, Rigasa, and Kakau to boost power transmission in the state capital.
