2018-1-28
India, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh regional power corporation Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL) has barred three transformer manufacturing companies for one year for not meeting the quality standards during a surprise checking, reports Times of India.
PVVNL inspected several new transformers at one discom’s warehouse in Meerut and shortlisted 11 transformer units to that were sent to the lab at Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) in Gautambudh Nagar.
After the inspection, three companies were barred – Bansal Transformers (Roorkee), Anand Transformers (Faizabad) and Sarvoch India (Bulandshahr) – for one year after the transformers manufactured by these three companies failed to meet the quality standards.
PVVNL’s technical director Raj Kumar said, "We randomly checked our stores in Meerut and sent 11 transformers to the CPRI lab for testing. Their report observed that transformers supplied by the above three companies could not withstand the oil (when heated) pressure when these were passed through certain tests."
