Siemens receives first order for new OTM

 Ireland, Dublin: Developer Mainstream Renewable Power has placed a first order for Siemens' new offshore transmission module (OTM) for its 450 MW Neart na Gaoithe development off Scotland.

OTM is a new HVAC solution expected to replace the conventional AC transformer platforms on future wind power projects.

“Neart na Gaoithe is expected to be the first commercially-deployed offshore wind farm that does not require a dedicated heavy offshore substation topside and foundation thanks to Siemens’ new OTM,” stated Mainstream chief operations officer Andy Kinsella.

“The OTM solution will make a significant contribution to the overall target of reducing the costs of offshore wind power,” added Mike Grainger, head of AC Grid Access Solutions at Siemens Energy Management.
