Offshore substation transformer installed in the North Sea

2017-10-11

A 2000-tonne transformer has been installed for the offshore substation at the 111 MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm in the North Sea.

The transformer platform is now sitting on a monopile foundation at the project site some 15 km to the north-east of the island of Wangerooge, the company said.

The remaining substation work was carried out by several sub-contractors, with GE delivering the HV/MV equipment, reports ReNews.

Full commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for the end of 2017.
