Nepal to improve distribution network with six new substations

2017-12-18

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is set to construct six new substations at various locations in the Kathmandu Valley in an effort to improve power distribution.

Contracts have been awarded for building three 132 kV substations at Mulpani, Phutung and Chapagaon, and two 220 kV substations, at Lapsiphedi and Changu Narayan.

The NEA plans to start construction of the five stations by the end of February 2018. The contractors will be given 30 months to complete the projects.

The NEA is also evaluating proposals to select a contractor for the construction of a 220 kV substation at Barhabise.

The six substations are being constructed as part of the Power Transmission and Distribution Efficiency Enhancement Project (PTDEEP) being executed by the Nepal government in association with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
