Joint Venture of Power Machines and Toshiba Corporation to take part in Volzhskaya HPP overhaul

 Toshiba. High Voltage Transformers (PMTT) will manufacture and supply powerful transformers for Volzhskaya HPP overhaul.

The general overhaul contractor is the Electric Machine Research and Design Institute Engineering and Technical Center.

According to the agreement, PMTT will manufacture and deliver four single-phase 500 kV autotransformers with a capacity of 267 MVA each. The factory’s staff will also supervise the transformer equipment installation at the power plant site.  

The transformers will be delivered to the Volzhskaya HPP in the end of Q2 2016.

PMTT’s delivery will continue the ambitious project of Volzhskaya HPP equipment overhaul implemented by Power Machines. According to the agreement signed with RusHydro’s company Volzhskaya HPP, in 2011, the company will deliver 10 hydraulic turbines with a maximum capacity of 145 MW each and 22 hydroelectric generators with a maximum capacity of 144.5 MW each to the power plant. 13 hydroturbines and 22 generators out of 22 have been replaced so far. The remaining hydropower units of the Volzhskaya HPP are scheduled to be renovated by 2021.
