India and Nepal agree to build new cross-border power lines

 Nepal, Kathmandu: In view of the various power projects being developed in Nepal, India and the Himalayan nation have agreed to build new cross-border transmission lines. 

This project would require construction of two new transmission lines: Butwal (Nepal) - Gorakhpur (India) and Lumki (Nepal) - Bareilly (India), and erection of new 400 kV substations, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, at Dhalkebar, Butwal and Hetauda, all in Nepal, reports Economic Times.

This has already been discussed at the fourth meeting of the Indo-Nepal Joint Working Group and Joint India-Nepal Steering Committee (JSC) on Power Cooperation that concluded in Kathmandu two days ago.
