HSM Offshore to build Borssele Alpha transformer station

 The Netherlands: TenneT, the Dutch electricity transmission system operator, has awarded a contract to HSM Offshore to construct the transformer station for the Borssele Alpha offshore windfarm in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

Under the terms of the deal, HSM Offshore is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, transport, installation, connection and testing of the offshore transformer station under an EPCI contract, reports Offshore Wind Journal.

The total weight of the platform – including jacket and piles – will be in the range of 8,000 tonnes and the approximate dimensions of the platform deck will be 58m x 32m x 26m high. 

The platform is due to be handed over during the summer of 2019.

The contract awarded to the Dutch company also includes as option to build the offshore transformer station for the Borssele Beta project.
