EETC extending Gabal El Zayt substation to integrate more green power

Egypt, Cairo: The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has contracted GE Power for the extension of the Gabal El Zayt 22/220 kV gas insulated substation.

As part of the project, GE will provide engineering, design, fabrication and the erection of powertransformers, local project management, site management, testing and commissioning services on a turnkey basis, in addition to medium and low voltage systems, control and protection systems and auxiliary services, the manufacturer said in a press statement.

Extension of the Gabal El Zayt substation will help connect an additional 120 MW of power to the national grid from one of the region’s largest wind farms by the end of 2018.
