Danville HPP to go online with new transformer installed

2017-3-23

USA, Virginia: A new power transformer has been installed at the Schoolfield hydroelectric plant in Danville, Virginia, which will allow the facility to go online within the next two weeks.

According to the director of Danville Utilities, the new transformer replaces a lower-voltage transformer and it will increase the voltage to feed directly into the city’s distribution system, allowing Danville to use the power generated at the hydroelectric plant, reports WorkItSoVA.com.

The plant was shut down for two weeks to allow preliminary work in anticipation of the new transformer.

The old transformer has been shipped off site and will be reused or sold.
