Borouge and Borealis underline their commitment to the Southeast Asia Wire & Cable market

2011-8-1

At the 3rd international WIRE Southeast Asia trade fair in Bangkok, visitors will experience why wire and cable manufacturers across the globe are choosing advanced insulation, semi-conductive and jacketing materials from Borouge and Borealis, leading providers of innovative, value creating plastics solutions to the global wire and cable industry.

Both companies will exemplify a number of customer projects, such as the cable project for Singapore’s LV power distribution for three key developments being the Changi Airport, the Marina barrage and the MRT system. For these projects, Tai Sin Electric has chosen the Visico™/Ambicat ™ cable insulation solution delivering reduced complexity and high productivity without any compromises in cable quality and performance.

Borouge and Borealis commit to the increasing global demand for XLPE through their current and future investments. Borealis’ high pressure LDPE (low density polyethylene) plant in Sweden was officially inaugurated in June 2010 and a similar plant producing 350,000 tonnes of LDPE per year will be built in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, as part of the Borouge 3 expansion project. This investment in LDPE production planned by mid of 2014 spearheads Borouge’s ability to also manufacture innovative XLPE solutions for the global wire and cable market.

The supply in the Southeast Asia markets is being strengthened with the establishment of the logistics hub in Singapore, providing improved and flexible responsiveness to the South East Asia customer demands, as well as consistency and security of supply.

Together they supply materials for a wide range of energy transmission and distribution cables from low voltage (LV) to extra-high voltage (EHV), as well building wires and fibre optic, coaxial and symmetrical communication cables, under the brand names Superclean™, Supercure™, Supersmooth ™, Visico/Ambicat™, Borstar®, Borcell™ and Casico™. With more than 50 years of experience, Borealis and Borouge provide consistently high quality polyolefins compounds for the wire and cable industry.

“Borouge and Borealis have high-quality productivity solutions that enable Southeast Asian cable makers to produce quality cables according to the highest industry standards, while maximizing the output potential of their processing equipment.” comments Michael Bjorn, Borouge’s Vice President for Wire and Cable. “The addition of XLPE production capacity at our polyolefins plant in the Middle East in 2014 will enable us to satisfy even more the growing global customer demand for wire and cable plastics solutions.”
