Aperam commissions new $19M GOES line in Brazil
2017-3-14
Brazil: Aperam South America, a global specialty steel producer, has started up a high-permeability grain-oriented electrical steel (HGO) line at its Timóteo facility, in Brazil's south-eastern Minas Gerais state.
The investments in this first high-permeability grain-oriented electrical steel producing line in the country amounted to around $19 million, reports Steel Times International.
The project that was first announced in May 2015 included improvements to the production process of Aperam's regular grain-oriented electrical steel.
The company's HGO production will supply local producers of power transformers. According to Aperam, this will allow production of smaller and more efficient equipment.
