SF6 Circuit Breaker Overview
An SF6 circuit breaker is a high-voltage switching device used to make and break electrical circuits under specified operating conditions. It is designed to interrupt fault currents within its rated breaking capacity and support the protection and operation of high-voltage power systems.
Using sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas as the insulating and arc-quenching medium, an SF6 circuit breaker is commonly applied in high-voltage substations and power transmission networks. Its operating mechanism, control system, and auxiliary components are selected according to the product design and project specifications.
Available configurations and ratings depend on the selected model and applicable technical requirements.

The final component list and accessory configuration should be confirmed against the product drawings, technical specifications, and agreed supply scope.
Working Principle of an SF6 Circuit Beaker
An SF6 circuit breaker operates through a controlled opening and closing mechanism. During a switching operation, the contacts move according to the interrupter design. When the contacts separate, an arc forms and is extinguished by the designed arc-quenching system using SF6 gas.
The circuit breaker is engineered to interrupt currents within its rated operating conditions, including specified fault-current levels. The operating mechanism and control circuits coordinate the opening and closing operations according to the protection and control system.
Actual operating sequences and interruption performance depend on the selected model and its approved technical specifications.
